In recent days, we have been deluged with comments on news articles about the alleged mass murder at office of Jewish newspaper Yisra'el in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The murder took place in early morning hours of June 17, 2001, when a group of Israeli commandos stormed the newspaper without warning. A number of staff members were killed. Yisra'el was not the target. The story started to gain traction on the Internet after news broke that members of the Israeli military had visited office, apparently seeking to gain information about the Iranian nuclear program. Israeli paper Yediot Aharonot reported: In an unusual move, Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officials spent nearly 24 hours in the office of newspaper Yisrael Hayom last Wednesday, June 3. According to IDF spokesman Colonel Moshe Edri, "The visit began after representatives of the newspaper met with representatives from the Israeli military. fact that they met with the IDF is not really purpose of the meeting, but Valacyclovir generic cost rather results are related to how deal with threats [of future violence against Israel]." The visit came to attention of the public after photographs visit were published on the Israeli army's official website. IDF spokesman says that the purpose of visit was to exchange information about Iran's nuclear capabilities. "We did not ask for anything," he claims, "or have any intention of harming the newspaper. On contrary, IDF's visit was meant in a purely informational way to exchange information, which is common in a war-time situation. However, the past, IDF has conducted numerous visits to American newspapers and European Latin organizations to gather important information." The Yediot Aharonot story, as well a subsequent one in The Jewish Daily Forward and articles on the Internet by American blogger Jeffrey Goldberg and New York Times editorial writer Thomas Friedman, all have the same essential details: Israeli military has an intelligence division dedicated to gathering information about enemies of the state, and in particular about the Vardenafil dosage 40 mg Iranian nuclear program. Yet the story is false. There no reason to believe that the military went to office of Yisra'el gain information about Iran's nuclear program. The newspaper is run by a very different organization: "Argentina's most radical Jewish newspaper" founded and chaired Viagra 30 Pills 50mg $55 - $1.83 Per pill by the most extremist, and one of the most virulently anti-Israel groups in Argentine society. The truth is that on June 16, 2001, a group of 15 Israeli commandos broke into the office of Yisra'el, where they found five hostages. Six of them were released. Some later appeared in print to.

(Glasgow: on the 2nd anniversary of the Scottish Independence Referendum)

En route to Glasgow, we were treated to the inaugural tourist tour of the east end of Glasgow by Peter Curran, erstwhile denizen of Dennistoun. A good lunch at Drygate Brewery, to the amusement of the waitress, who genuinely believed we’d only been let out for the day. Down to the Calton for  the Scottish Independence Convention Reassembly – first stop for a quick chat was Robin McAlpine

Guest post by Jason Baird of the National Yes Registry

Hello Wee Ginger Duggers and thank you so much to the WGD (and Paul of course) for allowing me this opportunity to describe what the National Yes Registry IndyApp project is all about before we finally launch it for public download on September the 18th. The IndyApp is a bespoke networking tool for the Yes movement. It is FREE to all participating groups and designed to allow those grass-root groups to work effectively together, share resources, experience and campaigning ideas. It will allow mentoring and mutual support among pro-Indy activists, encourage new community groups to form and dormant groups to reform.

Robin McAlpine to talk strategy at our September 2016 meeting

On Monday 5 September 2016, Robin McAlpine will speak about Strategies for Independence and then answer your questions. All welcome! 5 Sept 19.30, Clermiston Inn function room (round the back, upstairs), 9 Rannoch Rd, Edinburgh, EH4 7EG. RSVP on our Facebook event page.

Robin has written regularly in Common Space that we need to target our independence campaigning very cleverly because we won’t persuade everyone. He also cautioned about putting too much store in the Brexit effect and this school of thought seems to be borne out by recent polling. For instance a recent YouGov poll found that although 12% of NO voters currently would vote YES in an indyref2, 13% of YES voters would actually vote NO!
